MATCHA NINJA SOURCING

100% ORGANIC | HEAVY METAL TESTED | RADIATION FREE | CEREMONIAL GRADE

ORIGIN STORY…

Matcha Ninja was originally grown in Yame, Japan. However, a concern that developed from us and our consumers,  was the possibility of radiation contamination of tea leaves due to the Fukushima disaster . The tea plant, called the camilia sinsnus , is like a sponge and heavily absorbs whatever is in it's environment.  This, coupled with the fact that with matcha you are consuming the tea by actually ingesting the whole leaf, not just steeping like regular tea.

The material exclusively used for making matcha is a green tea leaf called tencha. We decided to expand our sourcing efforts to find new tencha.  Our search brought us back to the birthplace of tea and more specifically to beautiful, organic farms in Zhejiang, China. Zhejiang is home of the infamous Longjing or Dragon Well green tea, an extremely high quality green tea renowned  amongst tea sommeliers globally. The original Dragon Well trees are still living in Zhejiang and the tea they produce is auctioned annually for higher price per gram than gold.

We used our Japanese technical matcha experience in fertilization, stone grinding production, pest control, and sunlight protection, along with generations of local Chinese green tea knowledge to produce a quality of organic tencha unlike anything we had ever had before!

Matcha Ninja comes to life in the mountainous area of the Zhejiang Province, surrounded by a mild climate, rain and fog all year round. These conditions, and the lack of sun, allow the tea leaves to retain more l-theanine, thus providing your tea with a mellow and fruity taste.

Most of the Zhejiang province is covered with hills and ranges of small mountains. The high-altitude is great for the tea plants and the air is fresh. The region has a humid subtropical climate with distinct seasons and a seasonal precipitation pattern that provides the perfect growing conditions for the tencha leaves used in Matcha Ninja.
